László
Deák studied with
Ferenc Gergely and Jenő Jandó at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of
Music in Budapest. He finished his studies with distinction obtaining degree
Master of Music in organ ,
music-theory and piano.
He completed his studies at the classe
„Perfectionnement” of the conservatoire CNR in Paris with Marie-Louise
Langlais. He received his „Prix de
Perfectiennement” with distinction in
1999.
He participated several masterclasses of Olivier Latry, Marie- Claire Alain, Jean Guillou, Harald Vogel,
etc.
He was awarded several prizes at distinctive
international competitions. He won 2nd prize in Budapest
(1993 Franz Liszt Organ Competition) and in 1994 in Chartres (Grand
Prix de Chartres Organ Competition). In 1998 he won third prize and special
prize of the International Organ Competition in Pretoria (South
Africa). In the same year he won first prize at the UFAM International Organ
Competition in Paris. In 1999 he was awarded the André Marchal
Prize (Biarritz) and second prize of the Third International Organ
Competition of Paris (first prize was not given this year) including
the special prize for best rendering of the 20th century composition.
He had concerts in several music-festivals in
Europe, among others the „Spring Festival” in Budapest, Organ festivals in
Chartres, Bourges, Ravenna, Biarritz, and Sevilla.
Beyond his activity as concertist he is head of
organ-studies at the Szent István Király Conservatory of Music in Budapest, and organist of the Franciscan
Church in Budapest.
He
has recorded several CD-s including works of
French Romantic and contemporary music. On his recently CD he
plays works of Widor, Duruflé, Dupré,
Langlais and Guillou.

Monika
Kecskés studied
with István Ruppert at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. She finished her studies
obtaining degree Master of Music with distinction in organ, music-theory and
church-music. She received her DLA degree
in church-music in 2002.
She also studied with Nicholas Danby and David
Titterington at the Royal Academy of Music in London as well as with Michaele
Radulescu in Vienna.
She participated
masterclasses with Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Jesper
Madsen, Olivier Latry, Jean Boyer, Jan Willem Jansen, Harald Vogel, Paolo
Crivellaro, Felix Friedrich, Lorenzo Ghielmi, Bernard Foccroulle and Peter
Williams.
She won several prizes of international competitions. In
1988 she won special prize of
the National Youth Competition in Salgótarján (Hungary). In 1993 she was finalist of the
International Buxtehude - Bach Organ
Competition in Szekszárd and of the International Liszt Competition in Budapest
(1999). In 1998 she won firts prizes at the First International Organ
Competition in Győr, and in
1999 at the „ 5 ème Concours International d’Orgue de
Lorraine”.
She was awarded the Scholarship of the Hungarian State in
1996 as well as the Fisher Annie Prize of the Hungarian Ministry
of National Heritage in 2001.
Thanks to the sponsorship of the Soros Found she published her first CD
in 1999. On her recently recorded CD
she plays works of Hungarian composers (Liszt, Sulyok, Gárdonyi,
Antalffy–Zsíross,Koloss).
She has given concerts in several countries of Europe.
She also plays repertory for four hands or two organs with her
husband, László Deák.
Presently she is organist of
the Franciscan Church in Budapest and teacher of the Holy
Stephen the King Conservatory of
Music.
